On This Day In Wilson

THE WHITE HOUSE, 10/10/1913: Woodrow Wilson presses a button, and just blows up the heck out of the Gamboa Dike, more or less finishing the construction of the Panama Canal. This is the only instance I can think of where an actual multi-ton explosion was triggered via White House button press. I’m hoping he did it in between bites of a giant sandwich.
PS: “Small craft run through” means said craft were driven through the canal, not that they were run through by a large spike or Wilson’s awesome explosion.
